The Jones Family
A CD is Born...
After their October 2000 church talent show performance, Chuck was
approached by fellow church member Laurence (Laurie) Paulson, who
wanted to try his hand at producing a CD. Chuck said okay, the more reticent
Chenoa and Brenda were convinced, contracts were signed, and soon the
Joneses were faced with an awesome concept: they were going to have to
practice. At home, not just in the car.
And they did. Slowly, reluctantly, they began practicing, and felt almost ready
when they showed up for their first studio recording session. Recording a CD
can be a great deal of fun, especially when your recording engineer is as
knowledgeable and affirming as Heidi Gerber (now manager of All Access
Audio, Inc.). She quickly joined Laurie as co-producer, and after many hours
of studio and mix-down time, the Jones Family's debut album, Unquiet, was
ready. It was released by Shambling Gate in December of 2001.
A CD release party and concert was held in Saint Andrew's Parish Hall, and
the Joneses dredged up everything they could ever remember singing
together to fill out the concert set lists. Practice, practice, practice some
more. They had their first interview with a local paper, which made them feel
like they had really turned pro! Trevor was brought firmly into the family
group for the concert, adding rhythm to many of the rowdier tunes. The family
had a grand time on stage, and the audience had fun joining in.
Their new CD, From Earth to Heaven, was released in June, 2004,
by Shambling Gate. Be sure to check it out!
